Why you shouldn't use emulsion on a suspended ceiling

Using emulsion on a suspended ceiling is false economy.

We're bound to say that, aren't we? But it's true. Emulsion is cheap and easy to acquire and it'll be fine for Joe the Handyman to slap a coat or two on your ceiling, won't it?

Wrong! Paint your suspended ceiling with emulsion and you might as well order a new ceiling, because you'll need one in a matter of weeks.

  • Emulsion paint bridges gaps and causes ceiling tiles to stick to the grid. If you want to remove a tile, to get behind it for maintenance (and you will), you will have to break the tiles to remove them.
  • Emulsion paint is not stain-blocking. Stains such as dried water, nicotine and soot will bleed through to the surface and your ceiling will need re-coating over and over again.
  • Emulsion paint is very poor at bonding to surfaces and it will flake and peal. Once this happens, your ceiling tiles will need to be replaced.
  • The fire rating of your ceiling will become void. Our specialist coatings preserve the fire rating of your ceiling tiles.
  • Emulsion paint is not acoustically neutral. Paint a large, suspended ceiling with emulsion and your customers will think their hearing is failing because once bright sounds will become dull and distorted. Our coatings are acoustically neutral - the sound properties will be identical to when your ceiling was brand-new.
  • Use emulsion paint and your ceiling will look like a ceiling which has been painted. It will look terrible. Our specialist coatings render your tiles as good as new. They will look like brand-new tiles.
